How do I choose fertilizer production equipment

The production capacity for melamine in Linz is around 50,000 tons. In addition, there are another 90,000 tonnes from the subsidiary in Piesteritz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Melamine is mainly used in the wood-based panel industry for the production of laminates and panels. However, it is also used to produce molding compounds (e.g. kitchen utensils), for coatings or as a flame retardant in foams. As one of the global market leaders, Borealis has very good technical know-how as well as its own global sales organization. Our melamine is sold under the AMI Melamine brand.

Borealis also produces around 500 tons of guanidine carbonate annually at its Linz location, making it one of the world's largest producers of this specialty chemical. Guanidine carbonate is mainly used in the manufacture of high-quality cosmetic products, in flame retardants and for microencapsulation in carbonless paper.

Plant nutrients

The plant nutrient production at the Linz location, with a capacity of 1.5 million tons, includes calcium ammonium nitrate (KAS), urea and various multi-fuel fertilizers (NPK and NP fertilizers), which are sold under the umbrella brand Borealis L.A.T. Borealis L.A.T stands for the best quality and safety in nutritional content. The special granulation ensures optimum spreading ability and prevents dust formation. You can find detailed information on our range of plant nutrients on the website www.borealis-lat.com.

Another division of basic chemicals includes technical nitrogen products. This product family includes AdBlue®, technical urea solution, technical urea, Biuron®, ammonium nitrate, ammonia, nitric acid, etc.

The distribution of fertilizers and technical N-products is carried out by Borealis L.A.T GmbH. With a sales volume of around 5 million tons, Borealis L.A.T holds the leading position in fertilizer distribution. Borealis has further fertilizer production sites in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Bulgaria and maintains long-term partnerships around the world.
