Can i make my own eyeshadow

How great would it be if we got ours Make your own eyeshadow could? Unlike with eye shadow from drugstores, we would then actually know which active ingredients are in our make-up. That with it no terrible animal testing be supported, we could safely assume that and by the way our skin gets everything it deserves - 100% natural and no chemical additives from. Very cool, isn't it? So today there is a recipe for DIY eyeshadow. Have fun experimenting.

Let's give it a try!

IMPORTANT: Please do not use if you are allergic to individual ingredients.

  • Arrowroot meal / arrowroot (Here you can find all information about the natural product. You can order it here)
  • organic shea butter (like this one)

Depending on the color you want your eyeshadow to be, you can choose one of the following ingredients (several if you want to mix):

  1. 100% cocoa powder
  2. Nutmeg powder
  3. Beetroot powder
  4. Turmeric powder

-> You can make each of the powder types yourself by cutting the fruit into small cubes, letting it dry and then painting it into powder. Otherwise you can find almost every spice online.

Prepare DIY eyeshadow - this is how it works:

  1. You start by putting 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of the arrowroot flour in a small bowl. The more of it you use, the lighter your eyeshadow will be. You can always add some at the end, so it's better to start with less.
  2. Add the other spices of your choice and stir the whole thing well until you have your desired color.
  3. Then add a 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon of shea butter. With the back of the spoon you can pound the shea butter into the powder by rubbing it nicely on the edge of the bowl. Knead until you have an evenly creamy consistency! Despite the shea butter, your mix will still look powdery in the end. The Shea Butter is there to ensure that your homemade eyeshadow stays on your eyelid.

Ingredients for other colors:

Dusty pink:

  • Arrowroot meal (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Beetroot powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Cocoa powder (1/8 teaspoon)
  • Shea butter (1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon)

light brown:

  • Arrowroot meal (1/2 teaspoon)
  • 3/4 - 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • Shea butter (1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon)

  • Arrowroot meal (1/2 teaspoon)
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • Shea butter (1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon)

I hope it works for each of you. The effect and pigmentation on your skin depends on a number of factors, such as skin type or things like room temperature, room humidity, etc. But just try it and comment here whether it worked for you. 🙂

My advice: If the DIY eyeshadow does not adhere well, you can apply a primer underneath. I use this one.
