plot

A master of martial arts and medicinal remedies, Bodhidharma is the son of a great Tamil king of the Pallava dynasty. He is sent to China by his guru, who tells him to prevent a pandemic from spreading to India. At first, the people of China treat him as inferior, but later, when he was curing a little girl from the deadly disease and fighting some people who had abused villagers there, the people of China began to respect and worship him. He starts teaching them how to cure many diseases, the skills of hypnosis and the physical training of Shaolin monks that led to the creation of Shaolinquan. However, after a few years, when he expresses his desire to return to India, the villagers plan to poison him and bury him near the temple. They believe that their place would be disease free if it were buried there. Bodhidharma agrees to die and later becomes a fundamental figure in Chinese history, affectionately known as "Damo".

In China today, Dong Lee is tasked with launching a government-planned biological war against India, known as the Operation Red is known . He arrives in Chennai and begins this operation by injecting a virus into a street dog. This disease occurred during the time of Bodhidharma in China. Meanwhile, Subha Srinivasan, a genetics student, is investigating that Bodhidharma can be brought back to life if his DNA sample matches another DNA sample she finds in Aravind, a descendant of Bodhidharma who works as a circus performer nearby. Lee finds out Subha's mission to revive Bodhidharma and plans to kill her first so the disease cannot be stopped.

Subha approaches Aravind but begins to love and spend time with him, causing her to forget about her mission. One day, Aravind's family sees Subha and vividly remembers that they visited them a year earlier to find Aravind and to know all about him for Bodhidharma research. She saves herself and lies by saying that she doesn't know her. Later that night, Aravind's uncle explains everything that happened the year before when they met Subha. Aravind goes and meets Subha and is furious when he realizes the truth. The next day, however, he reconciles with Subha in a mood of love failure and declares himself ready to contribute to research and thereby save the country. The research begins with breathing life into Bodhidharma and ending Operation Red. Capable of anything, Lee does everything incredibly bad, mastered in "Nokku Varmam" (hypnosis), a martial art that Bodhidharma actually taught the Chinese.

Subha goes to her genetics department and announces that Operation Red can be stopped if they read and use the remedies in a book written by Bodhidharma. However, the department laughs and refuses to believe it, claiming that an ancient book is of no use in modern times, much to their dismay. After a while, Subha and Aravind learn that Subhas is helping Professor from the genetics department Lee with Operation Red. They sneak into the professor's apartment and learn about the operation. The next day, the professor is caught red-handed by Aravind, Subha, and their friends, but gives up and explains that he received a huge sum of money from the Chinese government for conducting Operation Red. After the gang's professor has more details about Operation Red and how to stop them, they leave. After a while, however, Lee arrives and the professor teams up with him again to save his own life.

Lee causes widespread devastation in the city that Subha, Aravind and their gang can hardly escape. They eventually find a research center where they can activate Bodhidharma's DNA in Aravind and decide to hide there for a few days. They all disable their phones so no one can track them. However, Lee somehow pursues Subha and the gang with the help of two outside friends of Subha. However, he kills both of them afterwards. Lee then finds the location of the research center. Subha and her friends at the research center flee in a van, but Lee chases them and the van collapses. An unconscious Aravind is first severely beaten by Lee, but then gains Bodhidharma's abilities and kills Lee. Aravind uses ancient medicine to cure the disease. Subha and Aravind then get married and eventually tell the press about the meaning of our story.

Critical answer

PG Devi from Behindwoods gave 3.5 / 5 and commented: "The album promises some big chart-busting hits like the upbeat 'Ringa Ringa', the melodious 'Mun Andhi' and the pathetic 'Yamma Yamma' A déjà vu feeling all around the album, a surefire commercial hit. " Indiaglitz stated that "Harris' unique stamp can be felt throughout the CD and that songs [...] are a pleasure for the senses" and recommended it "to those who love and appreciate good music". Pavithra Srinivasan from Rediff delivered 2.5 / 5, mentioning that "it looks like Harris Jeyaraj has run out of steam. While Yemma Yemma and The Rise of Damo are appealing, the rest sounds like he has remixed some of his own older tracks or opted to get inspiration from other classics [...] 7aum Arivus music has its moments, but these are rare and far apart. "Prakash Upadhyaya by Oneindia.in said the album "has different songs. The soundtracks will have more appeal when viewed".

Rediff gave it 3 out of 5 and found it "worth a watch" and "several things worked for it". Sify called the film "average" and wrote that "Murugadoss' efforts to make a particular type of film are commendable, but the imagination seems to be lacking to achieve what he wanted to achieve". Box office

7aum Arivu had a strong opening on October 25th, the day before Diwali. The film grossed £ 40.25 million from around the world on its six-day opening weekend. In Chennai alone, the film grossed £ 9 million in its lifetime. The Indian film trade viewed the film as a commercial success despite a high budget and distribution price. 7 Aum Arivu is thought to grossed an estimated ₹ 90 crore- ₹ 100 crore worldwide in its lifetime.

Controversy

Some criticisms of the film related to historical inaccuracies regarding the character Bodhidharma. According to experts, he had traveled to China from India to spread Buddhism, and his portrayal as a man of "medical knowledge" and his expertise in "martial arts" were not well received by viewers who claimed the film was admitting placing a lot of emphasis on his identity as a Tamilian rather than highlighting the other facts. The film has been compared by film historian S. Theodore Baskaran to other Tamil films about history and folklore that were historically imprecise, like Veerapandiya Kattabomman and Parthiban Kanavu . A man named Babu T. Raghu had pointed out at a press conference that the monk was 150 years old when he reached China, while they portrayed him in the film in his 20s. He expressed his desire to debate with the filmmakers and also said he had material evidence to prove it while he started a hunger strike against Bodhidharma's followers across the country. Other sources also reported a similar problem.

Later reports claimed that the film was very similar to the game Assassin's Creed. Some thought that the film and game were based on the same concept, although they differed in other ways. The film Velayudham that next to 7aum Arivu released been was was also compared to the game.

The film was sent for CBFC certification with a dummy background score and the official re-recording came afterwards, sparking protests calling for recertification.
