Dear Werdenfels Association,
was this week with a few friends at your beautiful Flugberg Wank while flying and enjoyed the first thermal day of the new season for us. I read through your flight area information and we would have liked to have paid for our landing card.
Unfortunately, there are no bank details or any other means of settling the required 4 euros on your website.
At the starting point, after asking other of the almost 80 people present, nobody was able to help me with this.
I would like to contribute my fee to the preservation of your flight area and in the future too.
With flying greetings
Joseph

@ Moni, the fee is usually paid at the mountain railway ticket office, or from one of the local pilots from the club or directly to the club.

Anyway, I was wondering who was going to cash in on our guests. Hike & Fly operation without end and no tail pays ... The bad tandems would not have to be asked to pay if we were to get things sorted out.
LG your Moni

Went twice on the weekend at Wank above, quite a lot going on at the moment but everything is fine despite two flight schools on site. We are always happy that you can still fly for free without a day membership. Keep it up and we highly recommend we will definitely be back and will be happy to use your local infrastructure. I also spread advertising for you in the various Walk and Fly groups.

Visited the Wank today ... great hike with a uniquely beautiful view of the Zugspitze massif! Fine November thermals even made a few circles possible!

Dear aviator friends,

Today I read the following at Bio Paradies Partenkirchen, found it to be good and also suitable for our association, which is why I want to share it here:

"PHILOSOPHY
Let us treat one another with respect.
Settling everything in peace is probably the only sustainable way.
Everyone has his / her opinion. It's like that in a world with lots of people. That is also OK.
Let us be respectful and tolerant of the different views.
Growing together among people - even in difficult times - is of great value.

Therefore we ask for it and try to exemplify it as best we can:
Respectful interaction, tolerance towards others, consideration, taking each other seriously, being friendly, being fair. "

In my opinion, the DGFW has been able to practice a very positive and communal club life in recent years and has managed to overcome problems in a constructive way.

If interpersonal or inter-party conflicts arise, an attempt should be made to resolve them in conversation, if necessary with the help of third parties or even external mentors. However, it should be avoided to carry them out in public. If someone has wishes, suggestions or ideas, they can always address them to the board of directors and bring them to the table. But it is important that we do not become a debating or even a serving club. All members are asked to actively participate and to lend a hand. With your help, we could do a lot more (as soon as the situation in times of Corona allows it again). And if you want to draw attention to grievances, please do so in practice and not on the basis of generalizations or even assumptions about larger mail traffic, pin boards, etc. That is probably not very effective and only spoils the mood in the club. That is why I would also like to consciously distance myself from a kind of pointing policy.

The most important thing is and remains flying itself. One of the nicest pursuits ...

I wish you all a lot of these unforgettable moments in a sport for which we are all together in this club.
Take care of yourselves!

The Alpina 3 is based on the Delta 3, but weighs one kilo less! It is an all-round optimized high-performance lightweight wing that gives a powerful feeling in active air.
MISSION
The same feeling, more performance: the top speed of the Alpina 3 has increased, and the glide performance - especially in accelerated flight - shows a significant improvement over the entire speed range. We paid special attention to the handling, focusing on the precision of the brakes, especially in the first area, in order to create an efficient, elegant and agile climbing machine. Compared to the Delta 3, the Alpina 3 even has crisper and more agile handling. You have to experience it to be able to believe it.
PILOT
The Alpina 3 is a lightweight XC machine that fits many pilots. It is suitable for those pilots who want to go beyond the EN B category, and for pilots with more experience who want comfort and ease of use in the performance XC class. Alpina 2 pilots will immediately feel comfortable and appreciate the improved handling and a more precise feeling.
TECHNOLOGY
All of our innovative technology, which keeps our performance wings constantly at the top of the competition rankings, is combined in the Alpina 3.
The latest development of our OZONE performance project "Curvature" can be found here, and the sail tension is improved both in the wingspan and in the wing chord.
The first control area is much more responsive, which makes the smallest adjustments and adjustments easier, and significantly improves performance in thermals.
While the general trend in our industry in this class is to increase the aspect ratio and squeeze the glider through EN tests, we have decided to adopt the moderate and comfortable aspect ratio of the Alpina 2.
Overall, the Alpina 3 is a high-performance travel / hike & fly wing; ideal for experienced pilots who appreciate low weight and small pack size and who do not have to accept any loss of performance.

Hello to all members,
here are a few words about the last email from the board. I read with great astonishment that we tandem companies are said to have made 4,000 flights this year. I don't know where these numbers come from, but one thing I know for sure - they are completely devoid of any truth and are far removed from the flights actually made. Also, I can't remember a day we were at
have flown in the most "adverse" conditions. We fly safely when many others are already walking, but there is a little difference in skill between a hobby pilot and a professional. As you know, in order to keep the level high, we do not use all pilots with tandem authorization.
Many greetings Edith

Dear aviator friends,
As I was able to read for the first time today in the current DGFW newsletter that was sent by e-mail, we are talking about 4,000 commercial tandem flights in the 2020 season at our airfield. The honest question arises whether this development is still good for our flight area and for all free flyers is. Apparently members of the board of directors who also benefit directly and indirectly from this development and generate their livelihood almost exclusively with it see it differently and continue to drive this business model at the expense of the free flyers in the sense of profit maximization. I find it extremely worrying that, due to the activities of a board of directors biased with parts, it is no longer about the interests of the free fliers, but only about the business models a few less. Commercial tandem flying in all possible and sometimes the most adverse weather conditions is the new hype here at the expense of the community and all paying members of the DGFW.

Hello dear fellow pilots,

I am a paraglider and in July 2020 I bought a ticket of ten for the Alpspitzbahn for 135 euros, from which I have previously used a mountain trip.

As I will soon be moving from Augsburg to Erfurt on business, I don't know if and when I will come back to fly with you. Therefore, I would like to hand over the card, as I do not want to let it expire (120 euros including shipping, valid until July 18, 2022).

If you are interested, please send me an email to tirian at posteo.de.

Best wishes

Hello dear fellow aviators,

a new, good wind seems to be blowing in the club, which makes me very happy. It was for this reason that I wrote an email to our board this morning.
Now I have learned that the subject of transparency and honesty as well as compliance with rules in our association is not just something that concerns me. For me the reason to make my e-mail (slightly shortened) available here for everyone. Perhaps it will contribute to even more safety and a good togetherness in our beautiful flight area.
Kind regards and always safe landings, Mirjam

Dear Frank, dear Board of Directors,

Thank you for your emails in the last few weeks. It is with great pleasure that I see and observe that something seems to be changing in our club. Away from unclear rules and the “we've always done it this way” mentality to more transparency, openness, honesty and consistency. I welcome that very much. For the following reasons:

For years I have observed that the topic of safety in commercial tandem flying is neglected by some pilots in favor of more profit. In the past, inexperienced pilots were employed, I observed unsuccessful take-offs and landings, the pilot and passenger were already hanging in the tree, in recent years there have been more (sometimes serious) injuries during take-offs and landings than ten years ago, even flights for solo pilots borderline conditions were carried out etc. pp.

I did my part and hoped that nothing really serious would ever happen. So far it is not. But happiness is not always with us.

I therefore welcome the fact that pilots who deliberately break the rules are also sanctioned. Thanks for this decision!

Rules have a reason and I still vaguely remember when the rule to only allow club-internal members to fly commercial tandem flights was introduced. At that time it served the club on the one hand, and security on the other.
If I remember correctly, the club is for private pilots, not business. The commercial tandem pilots use our take-off and landing areas as guests. And that (due to the many flights and passengers) to an excessive degree. The club should also benefit from this. Therefore, commercial tandem pilots should be club members.
In addition, pilots who have been a club member for at least one year are assumed to have learned to adequately know and respect our not always easy flight area with its pitfalls this year.

A sensible regulation, I think. And now about compliance: I just recently read an interesting article about it. According to this, it has been proven that rules per se are not a problem in the population and lead to resentment. But the fact alone if the non-compliance is not punished. This then leads to great resentment among those who stick to the rules of their own free will. And since there are unfortunately always people who - for whatever reason - do not adhere to meaningful rules, the point is to implement the rules and enforce them consistently.
The imposition of a commercial flight ban in our area on a tandem pilot who has been shown to deliberately disregard our rules (the facts, since when he has been in the club and the fact that he flew commercially, should be easy to prove) is therefore right and good. THANKS!
This ensures fairness to the pilots who stick to the rules and also sets an example for the future: as a deterrent.

I would like to add the following to the above-mentioned excessive use of the take-off and landing areas leased by the association: I very much welcome the regulation with the four euros per day usage fee and notice in the barn. This is going in the right direction and four euros a day is nothing compared to what is flown in on a good day! A big THANK YOU for that too!

I find it more than regrettable that there are always disputes about such a regulation (I think of the time when Bernhard Lechner was President). Every self-employed and freelancer has to pay rent for his premises, regardless of whether he has orders or not. What's wrong with being a commercial biplace pilot paying a small fee for the days you fly and make money? To be honest, I don't have a mentality to circumvent such regulations - but that's another topic.

I've been with the club for 13 years now and always find it astonishing that whenever commercial tandem flying is to be regulated in favor of more safety in our flight area, massive problems with the respective president seem to arise. It was like this with Heribert at the time - I still vividly remember the discussions at the annual general meeting and afterwards, with Bernhard - and now with Frank it seems to be the same again.
The fact that our board of directors has for the most part been made up of commercial tandem pilots for years (for a time even only of them) may not be entirely innocent. Honestly? For me it always had and still has a “taste”.

All the better that this now seems to be changing due to more transparency and honesty towards us members and consistency in enforcing rules. KEEP IT UP!

Best regards

Your Mirjam

Hello my dears,
Last Friday we actually wanted to come from Munich to use the last rays of sunshine and train opportunities in beautiful Garmisch.Since we would rather go to the Italians than we had checked the wind values before the driveway, we were surprised to find that in Garmisch even at well over 50kmh (at the time we saw the 4Haxler in the sky, it was 62kmh up there according to the Alpspitze wind station ) is flown anyway. Crazy, we all signed up for a tandem license if, as a professional pilot, you can still fly with passengers in such wind conditions. That extends the possibilities immensely :-) No offense - we also come across as non-professionals. Nevertheless, it will only be flown in safe conditions ...

... the bad tandem pilots ... on average we flew more than last season. At least as many solo pilots have also been flying in our club area. As a tandem pilot, nobody drives up with a Porsche yet, (except on their own from other work :)) That's why I think there is still enough space and room for improvement.
Nice to read that we, as a company, have made 4,000 flights here and not a single accident has happened, so we tandem pilots can be proud that we have done such a good job and have used our responsibility in a targeted manner.
Personally, I don't think that solo pilots / guest solo pilots can really complain.
.... Landing point always available, meadow mowed, drinks available - drinks machine not 100% functional, but when it was always full, nice pilots whether solo or tandem, ... it can also be nice to fly in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, it has to be just want to ... to a good winter season and even more flights in 2021 !!! (I'm curious what happens when next year there will be 5000 flights :))

Best wishes
Sasha

Your Mirjam

Flight ban by the DHV for all paraglider and hang-glider pilots throughout Germany.
Funny flying anyway and still swaying. Other clubs have already been proactive yesterday and have closed their areas as terrain holders. Is the board still in hibernation or is it already back in hibernation and has not heard the shot?

Hello!
On the weekends March 29th-31st I would like to or 05-07.04.2019 to Bassano and then complete a safety training in April / May.
1. Would anyone be interested in the above-mentioned activities?
2. Could someone give me tips for my plans?
It would also be nice to explore the surrounding flight areas (Grubigstein, Härmelekopf, etc.) together or to be instructed in smaller routes or tasks by more experienced pilots.
I would be happy if someone contacts me, even at short notice.
([email protected])
Until then, I wish you all a good time!

Good Morning,
I'm from Friday 20.4. for about ten days in Partenkirchen. I'll be back several times in May. Would like to fly from Wank to Gschwandtner Bauer in the morning and, if necessary, in the afternoon in reasonably calm air. I have already had first experiences with flying in thermals but have only had a certificate since autumn. Is anyone interested in flying with you and organizing the trip together?

Simply report to [email protected] :-)
