10 years Cape Town Festival of Beer: Friends. Beer. Anecdotes to remember ...

There are over 200 different types of beer in the southern hemisphere. Turn it into a celebration with colleagues, friends, and family.

What started as a simple idea 10 years ago between several brewers (and many beers) in Cape Town has now become the coolest beer festival on the Cape.

The Cape Town Festival of Beer (CTFOB) - from Friday November 29th to Sunday December 1st - is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is sure to be great.

The festival features the largest collection of commercially available beers in the southern hemisphere, an infectious atmosphere, and Friday through Sunday activities likely worthy of the Guinness Book of Records.

FUN STORIES TO TELL YEARS LATER
The CTFOB is one of beer blogger Lucy Corne (The Brewmistress) favorite events when it comes to culture and loads of beer. In 2013 she tried every single beer.

It's always about good beer, good friends and a good vibe, so everyone goes home with a funny story that they'll tell years later.

FROM WOODEN ROLLERS TO REAR SEATS, THERE'S EVERYTHING HERE
In the past few years there have been Bachlor dance-offs, beer Olympics, and a wooden roll and karaoke combination (be sure to check it out on youtube). There were countless types of beer pong here, such as with 1.7 meter high cups (the Guinness Book of Records was called specially). Every year there is something different. There have been the funniest stories over the years. Make sure you create your own by securing your ticket now!

SO MANY BEERS AND CIDERS TO TRY
This year there are around 200 types of beer (and cider) from more than 60 different breweries for you to try. . There is even enough of the limited-edition beers for everyone, as they are brewed in large numbers especially for this festival.

From micro to macro brewers, from lager to ale, there is everything. Also, prepare to see brewers like Hey Joe, Lagunitas, Soweto Gold, Loxtonia Cider, Jack Black, and Darling Brew.

THE COMPETITION: THE FIVE BEST IN 7 CATEGORIES
You will be able to enjoy delicious food with every beer. The South Yeasters brewery club from Cape Town will determine the best beers together with the beer jury, the Beer Judge Certification Program. The brewers present will compete for places among the five best in the following seven categories: best lager, best hop beer, best beer presentation, best dark beer, best special beer, best wheat and best cider.

If you are not so much about the beer and you just want to have a good time with your friends and enjoy the atmosphere, then there is also wine and sparkling wine available for you.

FRIDAYS ARE FOR GROUPS - WITH FRIENDS OR COLLEAGUES
The CTFOB starts on the last Friday in November. It's the perfect opportunity to end work early with friends and colleagues.

Friday is all about the beer lovers can try old and new beers (some are limited). Most breweries have special events this year to mark the festival's 10th anniversary, such as trying new types of beer that are coming out soon. Buy tickets for Friday.
